Initial SL Experiences
I've got to tell you guys. I'm just not a fan of SL. That's nothing against people who do enjoy it. It's just not for me. I'm more of a real life kind of guy. I don't enjoy fantasy worlds and I prefer face to face interactions. More than that, I just found it kind of irritating to manipulate. I never really mastered walking around. I was always running into things. Also, it was very complicated to change your appearance to what I wanted it to be. The easiest thing proved to be teleporting. I just searched for where I wanted to go and hit the button, "That was easy!" (sorry bad attempt at humor). I have yet to interact with other avatars, but that is because I never saw anyone at any of the places I went. I honestly expected a whole bunch of avatars not zero. I will say this, though, because I don't want to just bash the whole thing. Whoever designs the environments is very talented. They are quite detailed and even beautiful to look at. The bottom line is this: SL is something that requires a lot of time if you really want to enjoy it, and I have things that I would rather do with my time. If it is something that you enjoy then by all means go for it. It's just not for me.
